Over time changes to the interior and exterior
fabric of the Inn will take place.
In the above photos the rendering covers
the entire building, whilst the second photo shows how it has been removed
from the main section of the Inn.
The car park in photo on the rightx was originally
the garden to the cottage, which was purchased in the mid 1900's and has now
become the lounge of the Black Cock as can be seen in our main photo on the
left.
On the left is a contempoary interpretation of the 1838 map of the village.
This shows the positions of the three inns present at that time.
In the photos below The Black Cock Inn is on the
extreme right and
its additional holdings are to the left of the three bays.
By 2023 the White Horse Inn no longer exists and
has been replaced by a row
of terraced cottages.

The 'Heart of the Village'
What makes a perfect village?. Many would agree
that a church/chapel and a pub would figure highly.
This selction of photos show how over many years our pubs have been the
centre of village social life
