The official opening held on the 3rd July 2019 of the refurbished Village Phone box, now an Information Centre, carried out by Mrs. June Rennison who was born in the village and is now the longest term resident (see her story further on), assisted by County Councillor Emily Durrant, and presided over by The History Group Chairman Roger Reese. The event was witnessed by everyone in the village and many members of the History Group, who all raised a glass to the success of the phone box, and enjoyed some tasty nibbles, making it a village party.
As can be seen here the Telephone box had fallen into a state of disrepair, and was waiting it's turn to be removed. Luckily British Telecom's Adopt a Kiosk Scheme allowed all of the phone boxes around Llangors tobe adopted by llangors Community Council. Talyllyn's box was entrusted to the care of the Llyn Syfaddan History Group.
Cleaning and Painting the Telephone Kiosk. Now the "Memory Bench" and the Planter have been added to the site.
With the aid of a Sustainable Development Fund grant from the Brecon Beacons National Park, and the efforts of several members we have transformed our phone box into an attractive centrepiece for the village. The area also includes a memory bench and flower planter.
The Telephone Kiosk at Talyllyn has now been
refurbished. Display Boards and Information Leaflets have been added
