Roger Glover

Rock on! Locally born celebrity - guitarist for Deep Purple

Born nearly 76 years ago (30th November 1945), reportedly in a then windowless bedroom on a farm on the edge of Pennorth (windowless against the biting winds which came off Llangors Lake in the winter), Roger Glover (Brynllici Farm) rocketed to fame in one of the world’s leading heavy metal and rock bands.

Deep Purple were an English rock band which came to fame in Hertfordshire in 1968.  They are considered to be amongst the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock.  He played with "Deep Purple" from 1969 - 1973, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  He was also a songwriter and record producer.

At the age of nine he and his family moved to the South Kensington area of London.  Around that time his interests started to shift towards rock music and by the time he was thirteen Glover began playing guitar. Glover has been married twice and has three daughters. He currently lives in Switzerland with his partner and their two daughters.
